Stolen Jeep Crash in Massachusetts Kills Child
Michael Escolas, 42, of Oxford, Massachusetts, is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a Jeep Grand Cherokee from Gillette Stadium during a Kenny Chesney concert and crashing it into a Nissan Altima stopped at a red light, killing a 10-year-old boy and seriously injuring the other five family members inside. The incident occurred on Route 1 near Interstate 495 in Plainville. Escolas is charged with motor vehicle manslaughter, operating under the influence, and larceny, among other offenses. The crash also involved three other vehicles, but their occupants did not require ambulance transport. Escolas, who showed remorse by apologizing to the victim's family, is being held on a $25,000 cash bail and is expected to be arraigned in Wrentham District Court. The Jeep belonged to a Vermont couple attending the concert.
