Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has moved the Supreme Court in response to his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. His petition will be heard by a special three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud at 10:30 am on Friday. Meanwhile, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) veteran Champai Soren will take oath as the next Chief Minister, following Hemant Soren's resignation and arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. The former Chief Minister accuses the agency of acting at the behest of the Centre to topple the JMM-Congress coalition government. Soren is reported to have claimed that his arrest is part of a well-orchestrated conspiracy by the Centre ahead of the next general elections.
