Missing swimmer in Leamington

The body of a 46-year-old man, who went missing after entering Lake Erie near the Leamington Pier on Saturday evening, was recovered by the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Monday. Police received reports of the incident around 7:53 p.m., stating that two individuals entered the water but only one was able to return to shore. The Essex County OPP Marine Unit and Underwater Search and Recovery Unit conducted the search, aided by local fire services and the Canadian Coast Guard. This incident marks the fourth drowning in the Windsor-Essex County area this season, highlighting ongoing safety concerns at local swimming sites.
