Delhi Proposes Libraries in Memory of UPSC Aspirants

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has proposed the establishment of four libraries in memory of UPSC aspirants who tragically died last month. Three students drowned in a basement library in Old Rajinder Nagar on July 27, while another student died from an electrical shock a week earlier. The proposed libraries will be located in Rajendra Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar, Patel Nagar, and Ber Sarai, areas known as coaching hubs for civil services aspirants. This initiative comes in response to student demands for affordable public libraries, as many cannot afford private library memberships. Mayor Oberoi has requested budget provisions for this project and urged the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to explore land feasibility for the libraries. Despite the efforts, officials acknowledge that such measures cannot fully compensate for the loss felt by the community.
