Blue Jays Defeat Red Sox 2-0 at Fenway
Bowden Francis led the Toronto Blue Jays to a 2-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning before allowing just one hit in seven innings. The Red Sox struggled offensively, managing only two hits and failing to capitalize on opportunities, including a missed chance for a triple play in the ninth. Toronto scored their first run in the third inning on a double from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and added another in the sixth with back-to-back doubles from Addison Barger and Ernie Clement. Kutter Crawford pitched well for Boston, giving up two runs over 6.2 innings, but was unable to match Francis's dominance. With this loss, the Red Sox fell 3.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins in the AL Wild Card race. Rich Hill made his 2024 debut, becoming the only active player to have participated in the last 20 MLB seasons.
