Copenhagen has launched a pilot program, CopenPay, aimed at promoting green tourism by rewarding visitors for environmentally-friendly actions, such as using public transport, cycling, or participating in litter cleanups. From July 15 to August 11, tourists received incentives like free meals or museum admissions in exchange for their eco-friendly choices. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between tourists' intentions to act sustainably and their actual behavior, with significant advertising efforts throughout the city. As global tourist hotspots face issues with overcrowding, Copenhagen's approach could serve as a model for other cities.
