House to Probe Terror Suspects' Immigration
Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi, 62, and his son Mostafa Eldidi, 26, have been arrested and charged with nine terrorism-related offenses, including conspiracy to commit murder on behalf of the Islamic State. Authorities claim the pair were in the advanced stages of planning a violent attack in Toronto. Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced an investigation into how Ahmed Eldidi, a Canadian citizen, was admitted into the country and obtained citizenship, especially considering his alleged involvement in a 2015 aggravated assault linked to ISIS. The House of Commons national security committee has unanimously agreed to probe the case and will call relevant ministers to testify. The charges and investigation have sparked a broader discussion on national security and immigration screening processes in Canada. Both men remain under a publication ban, and the allegations have yet to be proven in court.
