Sanctuary cities sending migrants

Rep. Burgess Owens of Utah has introduced the Sanctuary City Oversight and Responsibility in Enforcement (SCORE) Act, aimed at penalizing sanctuary cities that transport illegal migrants to non-sanctuary areas without proper notification or support. The proposed legislation would cut FEMA funding to these cities, mandating that any transported migrants have a documented sponsor at their destination to ensure they do not rely on government assistance. Owens cited recent incidents, including Denver issuing tickets to over 1,500 illegal migrants traveling to Salt Lake City without informing local officials, as a catalyst for the bill. He argues that sanctuary cities are abusing legal loopholes and shifting the burden of migrant care onto other communities. The SCORE Act also requires the Government Accountability Office to produce quarterly reports to verify compliance with the new regulations.
