Huw Edwards Resigns, BBC Seeks Salary Return

Former BBC presenter Huw Edwards, who has pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children, has resigned from honorary positions at Cardiff University and other institutions. The BBC is seeking the return of Edwards' salary, around £200,000, paid during the five months after his arrest in November 2023. The BBC board supports the decisions made by the Director-General and has commissioned an independent review to strengthen workplace culture. Despite public outcry, Edwards will retain several major awards for his broadcasting work, although BAFTA is reviewing his individual accolades. Edwards' next court appearance is scheduled for September 2024.
