AP Secures Rs 15,000 Crore in Union Budget
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a Rs 15,000 crore allocation for Andhra Pradesh's new capital, Amaravati, as part of the 2024-25 Union Budget. The funds will support infrastructure and industrial development, including the Polavaram Irrigation Project, which is vital for the state’s farmers and food security. Sitharaman emphasized the Modi government's commitment to fulfilling the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. Additional funds will be directed towards developing backward regions and industrial corridors, including Visakhapatnam-Chennai and Hyderabad-Bengaluru. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been actively lobbying for these allocations, with plans to further appeal for industrial incentives and other infrastructure projects.
