Visa for Namibia

Namibia will implement new visa requirements for citizens of 31 countries, including Canada, the UK, and the US, starting April 2025. This decision aims to promote reciprocity in visa policies, as many Western nations have historically imposed strict visa regulations on Namibian citizens, while Namibian nationals have often faced high rejection rates for visa applications. Michelle Nehoya, a Namibian citizen, has highlighted her frustrations after spending nearly $500 on a visa to Canada, which has yet to be processed after two years. The Namibian government stated that despite extending goodwill to other nations, reciprocity has been lacking, prompting this policy change. Under the new rules, affected visitors can obtain a visa on arrival for $90, contrasting sharply with the extensive documentation required for Namibians seeking visas to Western countries. While this change may affect Namibia's tourism industry, the government believes it is a necessary step towards fair diplomatic relations.
