Tamirat Tola Wins Marathon Gold in Paris

Ethiopia's Tamirat Tola won the men's marathon at the Paris Olympics, setting a new Olympic record with a time of 2:06:26. Tola, who was a late addition to the Ethiopian team due to a teammate's injury, dominated the race from early on and finished 21 seconds ahead of Belgium's Bashir Abdi, who took silver. Kenya's Benson Kipruto claimed bronze. Meanwhile, Kenyan legend Eliud Kipchoge, aiming for a historic third consecutive gold, failed to finish the race.
