Magnitude 6.1 Earthquake Strikes Off El Salvador
On Wednesday, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck off the coast of La Libertad, El Salvador, with its epicenter located approximately 60 km from the coast at a depth of 33.9 km. The seismic event was felt across much of El Salvador and even in neighboring Guatemala, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damages, as confirmed by local authorities and President Nayib Bukele. Following the initial quake, two aftershocks of magnitudes 4.1 and 4.5 were recorded. The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources assured that there was no risk of a tsunami. Services and infrastructure in the region remained functional without interruption. Disaster agencies are monitoring the situation but have reported no significant impacts so far.
