Emilia Clarke Stars in Cold War Series Ponies
Peacock has officially ordered a straight-to-series espionage thriller titled 'PONIES,' starring Emilia Clarke, known for her role in 'Game of Thrones.' The series is set in Moscow during the Cold War in 1977 and follows two secretaries at the American Embassy whose lives change drastically when their husbands are mysteriously killed, leading them to become CIA operatives. Clarke's character, Bea, is an educated child of Soviet immigrants, while her partner, Twila, is described as an abrasive small-town girl. The show is co-created by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, with Fogel directing and Iserson as the showrunner. Jessica Rhoades will also serve as an executive producer. This marks another significant role for Clarke, who is concurrently working on the Amazon series 'Criminal.'
