Amit Shah Promises Naxalism Eradication by 2026
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has declared that the Indian government aims to eradicate Naxalism by March 2026, emphasizing a robust and uncompromising strategy. Speaking in Chhattisgarh, he highlighted significant reductions in Naxal violence and deaths since 2014, attributing these successes to comprehensive measures involving development, prosecution, and security operations. Shah announced the establishment of a Special Investigation Agency (SIA) in Chhattisgarh and a new surrender policy for Naxalites. The Modi government's efforts have led to a 53% decrease in Naxal incidents and a 70% reduction in deaths over the past decade. Shah stressed the importance of continuous monitoring and collaboration between state and central authorities to achieve the final phase of eliminating Naxalism, which he describes as a major threat to democracy.
