The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) conducted a state-wide drive, resulting in the detection of 3,349 cases of power theft and penalties totaling ₹7.66 crore. Over two days, 50,781 power connections were inspected across various zones, with significant fines imposed, including ₹4.64 crore from earlier inspections. The drive, supported by the enforcement and distribution wings of PSPCL, aimed to combat power theft and promote energy conservation. Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO emphasized the ongoing commitment to surprise checks to reduce power theft incidents further. Additionally, industrial resistance to installing mandatory power quality meters was noted, with only 7.8% compliance despite rental options offered by PSPCL. The campaign is part of the Punjab government's zero tolerance policy against electricity theft.
