Search Continues for Missing Tourist in Sinkhole

Vijaya Lakshmi, a 48-year-old Indian tourist, disappeared into a 26-foot sinkhole in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on August 23, 2024, while walking to a nearby temple. Rescue operations, now in their sixth day, have only found her shoes, and authorities are using ground-penetrating radars, high-pressure water jets, and remote cameras to locate her. Heavy rains have complicated the search, and a second sinkhole was discovered 50 meters away from the first. The Indian High Commission in Malaysia and local authorities are providing support to her family. The area has been cordoned off for safety, and businesses nearby have been advised to close temporarily.
