Istanbul Airport Named World's Most Connected Airport
Istanbul Airport has been recognized as the world's most connected airport, offering nonstop flights to 309 destinations, according to a ranking by aviation analytics firm Cirium based on data from the first half of 2024. Following Istanbul are Frankfurt Airport with 296 destinations, Paris Charles de Gaulle with 282, and Amsterdam Schiphol with 270. Chicago O'Hare ranks fifth with 270 destinations, making it the most connected airport in North America, while Dallas Fort Worth International is sixth with 261 connections. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Denver International Airport also feature in the top 20, ranking ninth and eleventh respectively. The list highlights a significant presence of European airports, with ten making the top 20, while no UK airports cracked the top ten, with Heathrow dropping to twelfth. The resurgence in air traffic surpasses pre-pandemic levels, reflecting a strong recovery in the aviation sector.
