Seven voters in Washington County, Pennsylvania, have filed a lawsuit against the county's election board, alleging their mail-in ballots were unjustly rejected in the April primary due to errors. The lawsuit, supported by the ACLU of Pennsylvania, the NAACP, and the Center for Coalfield Justice, claims the county failed to inform voters of disqualifying errors and did not provide an opportunity to correct them, resulting in 259 disenfranchised voters. The plaintiffs argue this policy violates the due process guaranteed by the state’s Constitution. Previously, the county had notified voters of such errors, but the new policy deliberately concealed these mistakes, preventing voters from rectifying them or voting provisionally. The lawsuit seeks to have the current policy declared unconstitutional and to stop the election board from misleading voters in the future.
