Spencer Rattler drives for Saints
In his NFL debut, rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler led the New Orleans Saints to a 16-14 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, showcasing his potential as a backup quarterback. Rattler directed a crucial 12-play, 56-yard drive in the final two minutes, culminating in a game-winning 37-yard field goal by Charlie Smyth. He completed 9 of 17 passes for 70 yards and also scored a 4-yard touchdown run earlier in the game. Saints coach Dennis Allen praised Rattler's poise and ability to create plays under pressure. The competition for the backup quarterback role continues between Rattler and second-year player Jake Haener, who also had a strong performance. Rattler's homecoming in Arizona stirred excitement among fans, many of whom are advocating for him to start in Week 1.
