Six Students Hospitalized After Mid-Day Meal

At least six students from a government-run primary school in Balasore, Odisha, fell ill after consuming a mid-day meal of rice and egg curry on Saturday. The incident occurred at Banisia UP School, where 35 students were served lunch; shortly after eating, six students reported symptoms including abdominal pain, vomiting, dizziness, and diarrhea. Teachers and school committee members quickly transported the affected children to Soro hospital for treatment. After receiving medical care, the students were stabilized and sent home, though they remain under observation. Authorities suspect that the illness may have resulted from contaminated food or water, prompting a medical team to visit the village for further assessment. Local MLA Madhab Dhada confirmed the situation and noted that some sick students were taken home by their guardians.
