Fatal Plane Crashes Under Investigation
Two people were killed when a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza A36 crashed shortly after takeoff from MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, Long Island on July 22. The aircraft attempted to return to the runway before crashing, with both the pilot and his passenger pronounced dead at the scene. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the crash. Separately, another fatal plane crash occurred in Wisconsin near the EAA AirVenture event, killing two people onboard a Lancair Super ES. The NTSB is also investigating this crash, which happened about two miles south of Wittman Regional Airport.
