Western U.S. Enacts Fire Restrictions Amid Wildfire Risks
Due to heightened wildfire risks, multiple regions in the western United States are enacting various levels of fire restrictions. In Southwest Idaho, Stage 1 restrictions will begin on August 5, limiting campfires, smoking, and requiring liquid fuel stoves in cleared areas. Montana has implemented Stage II fire restrictions in Beaverhead and Madison counties, prohibiting campfires and restricting the use of combustion engines and explosives. Similarly, Northwest Montana, including Flathead and Kootenai forests, will adopt Stage 1 restrictions, banning campfires and other activities that may spark fires. Boulder County, Colorado, has moved to Stage II restrictions following recent wildfires, banning open fires, fireworks, and off-road vehicle use. El Paso County, Colorado, is also under fire restrictions, requiring campfires to be fully doused and prohibiting fireworks.
