Gabby Thomas Advances to Olympic 200m Final
Gabby Thomas of the United States dominated the women's 200 metres semi-finals at the Paris Olympics, recording the fastest time of 21.86 seconds. Thomas, who had previously set the world’s fastest time this season at 21.78, is a strong contender for gold after winning bronze in Tokyo and silver at last year's world championships. Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia and Nigeria's Favour Ofili followed her, clocking 21.98 and 22.05 seconds respectively. The event will miss reigning world champion Shericka Jackson, who withdrew due to injury, along with Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah. The final is set for Tuesday, with Thomas firmly positioned as the favorite.
