ICC forensic audit
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has initiated a review of the recently concluded Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, appointing a three-member committee to investigate allegations of financial mismanagement. The committee, composed of Roger Twose, Lawson Naidoo, and Imran Khwaja, has been given full authority to conduct a comprehensive forensic audit, potentially involving an external firm. This decision follows the resignations of two senior ICC officials, Chris Tetley and Claire Furlong, whose roles during the tournament are now under scrutiny. ICC members have indicated that if any financial misconduct is uncovered, it could lead to the resignations of ICC Chair Greg Barclay and CEO Geoff Allardice. The committee's investigation is aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability within the governing body, with a focus on examining every financial transaction related to the World Cup. The ICC's four-day Annual Conference recently concluded in Colombo, where these decisions were solidified.
