On the eve of India's 78th Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu approved 103 gallantry awards for Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel, including four Kirti Chakras and 18 Shaurya Chakras, with several awarded posthumously. Colonel Manpreet Singh, Rifleman Ravi Kumar, and Deputy Superintendent Himayun Muzzammil Bhat received the Kirti Chakra for their bravery in counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir, with Singh having been killed in action last year. The Shaurya Chakra was awarded to five personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for their valor during engagements with Naxalites in Chhattisgarh. Additionally, the awards include 63 Sena Medals, 11 Nao Sena Medals, and six Vayu Sena Medals. This recognition highlights the ongoing courage and leadership shown by security forces amid rising terrorist activity in the region. Overall, the awards reflect significant contributions in operations such as Operation Rakshak and Operation Snow Leopard.
