Khalil Rountree has been cleared to compete at UFC 307 against light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira on October 5, following a four-and-a-half month retroactive suspension due to a failed drug test for the anabolic steroid DHEA. The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) recognized Rountree's cooperation and self-reporting of the incident, which led to a more lenient penalty. His suspension, which is set to expire on September 18, came after he tested positive due to accidental ingestion of a contaminated supplement. Rountree, currently on a five-fight winning streak, expressed gratitude to the NAC for their investigation during the hearing. Pereira, who successfully defended his title recently, will be looking to secure his third defense against Rountree.
