Union Home Minister Amit Shah has chaired a security review meeting in Jammu and Kashmir following a terrorist attack that killed four soldiers. Officials discussed strengthening local intelligence and improving coordination among the police, army and central reserve police forces. J&K's Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary, National Investigation Agency Director, as well as the Directors of the Central Reserve Police Force and Border Security Force were in attendance. Since the repeal of Article 370 in 2019, there has been an increase in violence in the region, which officials claim is due to attempts to revive terror from across the border. In 2022, 54 people were killed in a series of encounters between terrorists and security personnel in Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi districts.
