Hockey India Junior West Zone Championship Begins

The 2nd Hockey India Junior Men & Women West Zone Championship 2024 is set to take place from July 21 to July 28 in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, featuring 7 men's and 6 women's teams. In the women's division, teams are divided into two pools: Pool A includes Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh Hockey, and Hockey Gujarat, while Pool B features Hockey Maharashtra, Hockey Rajasthan, Goans Hockey, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli & Daman & Diu Hockey. The men's category has a single pool of six teams, with the top teams from both divisions advancing to the semi-finals. Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey emphasized the championship's role in nurturing young talent, while Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh highlighted its importance in player development. The opening matches will see Hockey Madhya Pradesh face Goans Hockey and Hockey Rajasthan take on Dadra & Nagar Haveli & Daman & Diu in the women's category, while the men's matches include Hockey Madhya Pradesh against Goans Hockey. This event aims to provide young players with valuable experience and exposure to competitive hockey.
