Crystal Palace have signed Japanese midfielder Daichi Kamada from Lazio on a two-year deal following the expiration of his contract with the Serie A club. Kamada, who previously played under Palace manager Oliver Glasner at Eintracht Frankfurt, expressed his excitement about reuniting with Glasner and competing in the Premier League. During his time at Frankfurt, Kamada scored 40 goals and provided 33 assists in 179 appearances, and he has 33 caps for Japan, including appearances at the 2022 World Cup. Kamada’s signing marks Palace’s second acquisition of the summer, following the addition of Morocco defender Chadi Riad. Palace chairman Steve Parish praised Kamada as one of Europe’s best attacking midfielders in recent seasons. The move has drawn criticism from Lazio's president, who branded Kamada a 'mercenary' for not extending his contract with the Italian club.
