F1 second quarter revenue
Formula One Group reported a remarkable 20% year-over-year revenue increase in Q2 2024, reaching $871 million, attributed to the addition of two races compared to the previous year. This growth was complemented by an operating income rise of 17%, totaling $84 million, as the sport continues to enjoy heightened viewer engagement and social media presence, with followers up over 30%. Notable events included the return of the Chinese Grand Prix and the Emilia Romagna GP, which had been canceled in 2023. Team payments increased significantly by 26%, reflecting the competitive nature of the season, where seven different winners have emerged across 14 races. Liberty Media's CEO Greg Maffei highlighted the exceptional season, noting unprecedented engagement levels in growth markets. The launch of the F1 Academy has also been successful, running events alongside F1 weekends, enhancing the overall fan experience.
