Champai Soren to Join BJP on August 30

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has officially announced his decision to leave the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on August 30. Soren cited the need to address rampant Bangladeshi infiltration in tribal areas, which he claims is a significant threat to tribal identity and existence, as a major reason for his switch. He also expressed frustration over being humiliated and sidelined by his own party, particularly after Hemant Soren's return from jail. Soren's decision follows weeks of speculation and meetings with senior BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Soren, known as the 'Kolhan Tiger,' aims to continue his struggle for the rights of tribals within the BJP, arguing that other parties ignored the infiltration issue for votes.
