Charlotte City Council Approves $650 Million Renovation Plan for Bank of America Stadium
The Charlotte City Council has approved a $650 million renovation plan for Bank of America Stadium, ensuring the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC remain in the city until 2045. The council voted 7-3 in favor of the deal, which will be funded by the city's tourism and hospitality tax resources. Panthers owner David Tepper will contribute $150 million and cover $421 million in potential overages. Renovations, scheduled for completion by 2029, include upgraded audio and video systems, redesigned concourses, and new seating. The agreement also stipulates that negotiations for a new stadium will begin by 2037, with the goal of opening a new venue by 2046.
