Daniel Sancho Sentenced to Life in Thai Prison

Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, son of famed Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, has been sentenced to life in prison by a Thai court for the premeditated murder and dismemberment of Colombian plastic surgeon Edwin Arrieta Arteaga in August 2023. Initially sentenced to death, the penalty was commuted to life imprisonment due to Sancho's cooperation during the trial. Sancho, a 30-year-old chef and YouTuber, claimed self-defense, alleging Arrieta tried to sexually assault him, which led to a fatal altercation. Surveillance footage showed Sancho purchasing items used in the crime, bolstering the charge of premeditated murder. He admitted to dismembering and disposing of the body. The case, which drew significant media attention in Spain, concluded with Sancho also being ordered to pay 4.2 million baht (approximately $125,000) in compensation to the victim's family.
