In the Rose Bowl College Football Playoff semifinal, No.1 Michigan defeated No.4 Alabama 27-20 in overtime, advancing to the national championship game for the first time in their history. After falling behind 17-13 late in the fourth quarter, Michigan scored a touchdown to force overtime. They then scored on their first possession of overtime and stopped Alabama to seal the victory.
