Europe Implements New Biometric Passport System

UK travelers have received critical updates regarding travel to Europe, notably following a knife attack in Germany that left three dead, prompting the Foreign Office to issue security warnings. Additionally, starting summer 2025, UK travelers will require a visa waiver called ETIAS, costing €7, to enter EU countries, marking a shift from current travel regulations. The EU is also set to implement a new Entry/Exit System (EES) in November 2024, utilizing biometric data to streamline border control for travelers and enhance security against overstayers. This system will replace traditional passport stamps and is designed to improve monitoring of entry and exit from the Schengen Area.
