Droupadi Murmu Awarded Timor-Leste's Highest Honor

President Droupadi Murmu was awarded the Grand-Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste, the highest civilian honor in the country, by President José Ramos-Horta during her historic visit, marking the first presidential trip from India to Timor-Leste. The award recognizes her contributions to public service, education, social welfare, and women's empowerment. In her discussions with President Horta, Murmu emphasized the strong friendship and commitment to democratic values between India and Timor-Leste, and they explored enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas such as IT, health, agriculture, and the potential for Timor-Leste to join the International Solar Alliance. Additionally, MoUs were signed to foster cooperation in media and cultural exchange. The visit included a ceremonial reception and a guard of honor, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
