Heavy Rainfall Disrupts Delhi and Surrounding Regions
Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) experienced heavy rainfall early on July 26, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting continued rain through July 28, prompting a 'yellow' alert for the region. Areas such as Nauroji Nagar and Anand Vihar saw moderate to heavy rain, leading to significant waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The Safdarjung weather station recorded 19.1 mm of rainfall in just three hours, contributing to inundated roads and multiple complaints of waterlogging and uprooted trees. Despite the rain, the maximum temperature remained around 36.2 degrees Celsius, and humidity levels reached 67%. Visual reports showed severe flooding in various locations, including the Rampura underpass. The IMD also issued a red alert for Telangana, predicting very heavy rainfall in certain districts, while Hyderabad is expected to see light to moderate rains.
