South Africa's Adriaan Wildschutt, despite an impressive national record of 26:50.64, finished outside the podium as nine athletes outperformed him. Meanwhile, Grant Fisher of the USA earned bronze in the same event, marking the first American medal in the 10,000m since 2012.
