Rajasthan Minister Calls for Burning Akbar Textbooks
Rajasthan's Education Minister Madan Dilawar has announced plans to burn any school textbooks that depict Mughal emperor Akbar as 'great,' claiming he was a looter and the greatest enemy of the Mewar region. During an event in Udaipur, Dilawar criticized comparisons between Akbar and the revered Rajput warrior Maharana Pratap, deeming them an insult to Rajasthan's pride. He described Maharana Pratap as a 'protector of the people' who never surrendered, contrasting him sharply with Akbar's legacy of violence for personal gain. Dilawar stated that while they have not yet found references to Akbar as 'great' in current textbooks, any such mentions will lead to the burning of those books. He reiterated the importance of education and vowed to correct any misleading information about historical figures in school curricula.
