Contractor Todd Briggs Charged with Embezzlement

Todd Douglas Briggs, a contractor from the Tulsa area, faces 17 felony embezzlement charges and one count of a pattern of criminal offenses after allegedly stealing over $1.2 million from customers for unfinished home and pool construction projects. The Oklahoma Attorney General's Consumer Protection Unit launched an investigation following complaints from several clients, leading to the charges filed in Creek County. Briggs reportedly informed customers in July 2023 of his bankruptcy plans shortly after receiving large payments, leaving many with incomplete work and liens from unpaid subcontractors. The Attorney General, Gentner Drummond, emphasized the commitment to hold accountable those who exploit hardworking Oklahomans. A warrant for Briggs' arrest has been issued, and he could face significant prison time and fines if convicted. Consumers from multiple cities, including Tulsa and Broken Arrow, were affected by Briggs' actions.
