Since its emergence in August 2023, Radar/Dispossessor targeted small to mid-sized businesses across various sectors globally, employing a dual-extortion strategy that involved encrypting and exfiltrating data from victims. The group's tactics included exploiting weak passwords and inadequate security measures, impacting at least 43 companies in 13 countries. In a related incident, Swiss manufacturing firm Schlatter Group reported a cyberattack that has drawn attention due to ongoing threats of blackmail against it. As ransomware attacks continue to rise, the FBI's actions provide a rare glimpse of success in combating such criminal enterprises.
