Severe Storms Cause Major Power Outages in Midwest
Severe storms across Minnesota and Michigan have left hundreds of thousands without power, as crews work to restore electricity and clear debris. In the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin, nearly 30,000 Xcel Energy customers remain without power, down from an initial 250,000 affected by two rounds of storms with winds up to 70 mph. Similarly, in Michigan, storms left around 350,000 residents without power, with significant damage including uprooted trees and downed power lines. Restoration efforts are ongoing with expectations that most power will be restored by Thursday evening. The National Weather Service has issued warnings, and local authorities have reported widespread damage but no serious injuries.
