Russian army supply company
Vladimir Pavlov, CEO of Voentorg, a major supplier to the Russian Army, has been arrested on fraud charges for allegedly stealing 400 million rubles ($4.6 million) through overpriced contracts for toiletry kits between 2019 and 2022. Law enforcement claims he conspired with accomplices to inflate prices and inflict serious financial damage on Russia's Defense Ministry. Since April, a series of high-ranking military officials have been arrested amid a corruption crackdown following the dismissal of Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov. Pavlov, who has led Voentorg since 2012, denies any wrongdoing and asserts he did not personally sign the contentious contracts. He has been remanded in custody until September 30, with the possibility of up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Investigators have conducted extensive searches and questioned numerous witnesses in connection with the case.
