71 Freeway Closure Planned for Construction

The southbound 71 Freeway in Chino and Chino Hills will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday as part of a $134 million interchange improvement project. This closure will affect all three southbound lanes from Butterfield Ranch Road to the Riverside (91) Freeway, with the goal of replacing the existing single-lane loop connector with a new two-lane direct flyover ramp. The Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) advises motorists to use alternate routes, with detours leading to the eastbound and westbound 91 connectors also closed during this time. The upgrades are expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety at the interchange. Recent closures have already impacted the 71 Freeway in Pomona, adding to ongoing traffic complications in the area.
