Jon Gray Exits with Groin Strain vs. Blue Jays
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jon Gray exited Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays before throwing a pitch due to a right groin strain, an injury that could sideline him for up to a month. Gray, who has a 5-4 record with a 3.73 ERA this season, has already spent two weeks on the injured list for the same issue earlier in the year. His early exit left the Rangers in a difficult situation, as their bullpen was already depleted from previous games. Right-hander Jonathan Hernández replaced Gray, but allowed three runs in the first inning. The Rangers recalled pitchers Gerson Garabito and Ezequiel Duran from Triple-A Round Rock and activated third baseman Josh Jung from the 60-day injured list. The team is considering trade options to bolster their pitching staff ahead of the upcoming trade deadline.
