Newsom signs 2 bills

Meanwhile, Assembly Bill 3057 streamlines the process for creating Junior Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), exempting them from certain environmental regulations to expedite development. These measures come in the wake of previous initiatives like Project Roomkey, which aimed to house homeless individuals during the pandemic. Newsom emphasized the need for innovative solutions and encouraged local governments to leverage state resources to combat homelessness effectively. The state has invested significantly in homelessness initiatives, with over $27 billion allocated since 2019 to support local efforts.
