BBC removes Southport suspect

The BBC has removed a 2018 Children in Need video featuring Axel Rudakubana, now 17, who is accused of murdering three girls in Southport. In the deleted clip, a then-11-year-old Rudakubana is seen dressed as Doctor Who, promoting the charity without any affiliation to its projects. Following the tragic stabbings of Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, the BBC expressed its sympathies and took down the video out of respect for the victims. Rudakubana faces charges of murder, attempted murder of several others, and possession of a bladed article, and was remanded to youth detention. He is scheduled to appear in court again in October, with a preliminary trial date set for January 2025.
