Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has officially named Will Howard, a transfer from Kansas State, as the starting quarterback for the 2024 season. Howard, who started 28 games at Kansas State and led them to the 2022 Big 12 championship, has impressed coaches with his command of the offense and improved physical conditioning. He beat out Devin Brown and other contenders, including Alabama transfer Julian Sayin, for the starting role. Howard's dual-threat capability, demonstrated by his 48 career touchdown passes and 19 rushing touchdowns, adds a new dimension to Ohio State's offensive strategy. The Buckeyes, ranked No. 2, will open their season against Akron on August 31. Devin Brown will serve as the backup, with other quarterbacks continuing to compete for the top backup position.
