CBI Investigates Former RG Kar Principal

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College, re-registering a case against former principal Dr. Sandip Ghosh for financial irregularities linked to the hospital. This transition follows an order from the Calcutta High Court, which emphasized the need for a comprehensive inquiry into both the murder and the financial misconduct. CBI officials are currently conducting a raid at Ghosh's residence as part of their investigation, but he has yet to cooperate. The agency is also performing polygraph tests on Ghosh and four other doctors associated with the case. The High Court has mandated the CBI to submit a progress report within three weeks, ensuring that the investigation remains centralized to avoid inefficiencies. Ghosh resigned shortly after the incident but was promptly appointed to another position, raising concerns and protests about the state government's actions.
